Reusable Menstrual Pads

We distribute reusable menstrual pads within communities in Malawi & Kenya and through scholarship opportunities, we teach young women the skill of making reusable menstrual pads.

Throughout most of Africa, menstruation is still taboo and most young women do not receive education on the topic, let alone have the resources to manage their monthly period.

Forced to use dirty rags, mattress stuffing, leaves or anything else they can find, these young women are prone to infections and long-term issues. Enduring feelings of shame, embarrassment and uncleanliness, they remain at home until their cycle has finished, resulting in months of education missed every year. Others engage in prostitution as a way to afford the purchase of disposable pads, exposing themselves to the dangers of HIV/Aids, teen pregnancy and even death.

Evie Grace Foundation provides training opportunities to young women in order to learn how to make our reusable pads. These then get distributed through the Girl Child Mentorship days, to females most in need. Our pads are safe, washable and long-lasting. This allows the girls to feel clean, fresh less embarrassed and most importantly, to stay in school! Along with receiving menstrual pads, the girls also receive vital health education about puberty, menstrual cycles and safe sex including the use of contraception.
